This is 'Don Corleone' back once again (You don't get rid of me that easily).
The start of the London Olympic Games at Stratford is fast approaching, with only 34 days to go now. I managed to obtain one (yes one) ticket which will be for boxing, unlike Cliffyg, who must have been one of Ticketmaster's best friends.
As long ago as 1960, I went to the Olympic Games in the Eternal City, Rome, with a school party. On my return I was given £10 back, as having just left school, I had been listed as the fourth Teacher. We saw all the athletics, bar one day; some of the swimming heats in an outdoor pool, and one momentous evening when our tickets for the boxing turned out to be Finals night. It was so packed in the Arena, that we never found our seats, we just sat and stood in the aisle nearby. I saw a young Cassius Marcellus Clay win the Light Heavyweight title and all the other fights. As the future 'Don', I learned the basics of the Italian National Anthem 'Italia', as they won two Gold medals and the crowd went wild. For the 2012 Games, I will be an armchair TV watcher, along with millions of others in the UK and Worldwide.
