1926 Foundation of Marks and Spencer?
Although it existed long before then, M&S became a public limited company in 1926.
Maybe 'foundation' is not quite the right word.

I'm sure Calibax is right with Marks and Spencer. Although Foundation doesn't feel quite right I can't think of a better word of 10 letters

That's interesting, Salty. I thought of Flotation but it's only 9 letters. I didn't know there was an alternative spelling, but it make sense since we say a company was Floated on the Stock Exchange. I wonder how the spelling changed to FLOT....
