22ac Old skilled craft demonstrated by innovative scenic railway half completed. The answer is an abbreviation but I can't work it out.

It would have helped if you had told us how many letters we were dealing with! However, I suspect they might be looking for SCIENCRY. That's an anagram (ie 'innovative' version of) 'scenic' plus 'ry', the standard crossword abbreviation for 'railway'. This might have meant a 'skilled craft' - as in 'science' - in olden times.

(I have to say, however, that The Oxford English Dictionary does not list that word, though it does appear on various web-pages. Could that be it?

Actually, sciencry appears on only one web-page, though sciencery - which seems more logical though it doesn't fit the given letters, having only one 'e' to play with - appears on several.

Yes it would have helped me if the setters had given the length of the answer to be abbreviated, but they didn't! Thanks for the suggestion - I'll let you know if it was right.
