MM Links Results September 2012 Week 3

This turned out to be a fruity week of challenges from 'King Fordward',
. . . but were the link words of a similar theme? Now is the thime to find out.

I can now reveal that the chosen links that you were seeking were:


APPLE SAUCE
BANANA REPUBLIC
LEMON DROP
PLUM DUFF

Some proved popular while others were much more elusive.

PLUM DUFF was not only the most popular pairing for 'plum', but it was also the first to be discovered. Evsajo was straight in there as player #2 for 2 points. Christiana, tearinghair, Manxiemo & Strix were all within the 2 minute bonus window for 2 points each as well.


An amazing 22 players opted for 'banana split' but unfortunately that was NOT Fordward's choice. Five players did hit the mark with BANANA REPUBLIC and of those, Strix, cliffyg & lysander qualified for the bonus point (so 2 points each).

It was an hour and a half before kawakiri tentatively suggested APPLE SAUCE. Was he preparing roast pork for Sunday lunch? (2 points) and later a couple of singles were picked up on this link.

The final link of LEMON DROP held out for over 2 hours but was no match for the brain of Wickedtongue, who, along with a single for 'banana republic' scored 3 points.

There were four double-hitters in all this week
Strix was our highest scorer with 4 points for the most common pairings
Wickedtongue managed one point less but included that unique match for the final link.
Teacher1 and 2unicorns were the others for 2 points

I therefore declare joint Hotshots for the reasons stated above.
