We have received an envelope, addressed to Kay, which we think must have been an application for our quiz.

The large white envelope, has been roughly torn away at the end, all the contents extracted (presumably cash or a cheque plus a self-addressed stamped envelope) & has been forwarded in a clear plastic Royal Mail envelope with a note of apology from Royal Mail.

This white envelope bears three stamps and is postmarked PETERBOROUGH on 6th October.

Obviously we cannot send out a quiz because we do not know who sent it to us. If you think it may have been you, please contact us.

Isn't it disgusting when someone feels it is OK to steal from a charity?

It may not have been someone stealing. if the edges of an envelope aren't sealed correctly they can catch in the sorting machines and that can make a right mess of them. The contents could then have become separated and then Royal Mail have no way of knowing where they came from.

I can't think of anything more petty and despicable DSJ - same as taking from the poor box in a church. Probably only a pound too. Must be really hard-up or just wants money for the sake of it.
I had a quiz back last week with a note to say money gone, is rare but awful when it happens.
DSJ I have a Kay in my email list of quiz contacts, would you like me to message her.Which quiz is it?
Hi Polly, no Kay is tjhe quiz setter in this instance .
oops 'the'
Yes I had one like that mamya. Since then I pay by cheque although I feel silly sending a cheque for a pound but at least if they pinch it they can't cash it (I think) - even sillier when it is for 50p, so I usually send a pound instead. I like doing quizzes, although I never win - it's something to do instead of staring at the tv all night.
Thanks Mamya, sorry,I thought Kay was applying for DSJ'S quiz.
Also I learn quite a bit which I never knew before and it makes me use my brain - what there is left of it.

No, Kay is dealing with the internet sales for my quiz. Thank you for your suggestion, nevertheless.
Feel daft now, just realised the quiz is in the title of the post!

Starbuckone, are you doing our quiz? If not, I think you will enjoy it. It's in aid of St. Guthlac's Ladies' Guild in Market Deeping. Details are in the list of quizzes posted by the AB Editor.
Is it the type where you only have the initials and you have to guess it from there or do you give clues. I am no good with initials but if it is clues I will have a look and send for one.
Question Author
No initials! Just forty clues, some cryptic, with a £25.00 prize for your troubles. As I have compiled the clues, it can't be too difficult!
Had a look while I was waiting for your reply and looks OK for me so have made a note of the address etc. and will be sending for a copy ASAP, which will probably be tomorrow. Like your style DSJ - never miss a chance to improve.

Thanks for that. Just hope the person who's application was opened en route sees this appeal. If not, they will be wondering what has happened.

When you send, please write a covering note. Kay will compare the writing on the envelope so it will be easy for us to identify it. If it is yours, don't worry. You will get it in the end & hopefully have fun solving the clues.
i have put a cheuqe in this time.will be in postin mornig if it is mine please keep for your funds
