If you split "open" from "country", the obvious country is Holland. I don't know Lincs., but I see there is a village in N. Lincs. called New Holland, though how "new" means "open", I don't know. There is also a district in Lincs., "South Holland"; are there any villages with Holland in their names in that district?
Hope these thoughts are helpful!
