The theme is "How well do you know the sea and ships?" Nearly all the answers are cryptic.
1." Don Quixote's target "(4)
2." Hewer" (7) Could be clipper although I already have that for another clue but that does not necessarily rule it out.
3. " I heard he followed the cortege" (6)
4. "Vessel for airborn Hollander" (5,4)
5. "Fly boys here" (7)
6. "A cat and a half so to speak" (8)
Any help much appreciated

1 sail (of a windmill)
1 sail (windmill)
2 is cutter more apt?
4 Ghost ship
Question Author
Thanks for your ideas. Can't see the connection with D.Q's target and sail. Can't be cutter - only 6 letters. Can't see why Ghost ship is connected to airborn Hollander.Under answerbank I notice whaler for no.3 but how about tender?
Sorry, missed the number of letters for 2.
How about collier instead?

For 5, I considered jetties, but couldn't relate ties to boys.
5 jetsam?
6 Trimaran (catamaran has 2 hulls)
4. Dutch Flyer www.stenaline.co.uk/ferry/rail-and-sail/holla
nd/
or jetsams
2, cutter
On behalf of shaneystar, who doesn't seem to be around:

3. whaler (wailer) given in a thread yesterday 21.11.12
Question Author
Not sure how collier ties in with hewer. Not sure about jetties either - I wondered if it could be airship but that is an aircraft rather than a ship!
cg51, I didn't realise you could pluralise jetsam, and rejected that possibility.
4. Ghost ship. Ignore my previous posts. Shaneystar is right.
You're right. My mistake
maxymax,
a collier can be both the miner who digs (hews) the coal, and the ship which carries it.
