Can Someone Solve This Alphametics Puzzle Please

Was helping with my son's maths homework, which wasn't too hard:


5 + 5 + 9 +11 =


Turns out the answer is 30.

but maybe it isn't a maths problem, perhaps you need to look at letters and words to work out the answer. Either way the answer is 30.

The co-ords of the cache is N53 17.6LT W001 07.8YR

Well 5 + 5 is 10, plus 9 = 19 and plus 11 = 30.
I dont understand what the problem is ???

If it's an alphametic, then write it as :-

FIVE+FIVE+NINE+ELEVEN=

Now substitute the letters as follows :-

F=4
I = 0
V = 2
E = 7
N = 5
l = 9

so it becomes :-

4027+4027+5057+797275

which gives an answer of 810386

and substituting T = 8: H = 1: R = 3: Y = 6

makes this THIRTY
