The code is as follows and it comes from a puzzle in the Manchester Evening News from yesterday. I do not know what type of code this is and would greatful for any help received. The code is as follows:

ABCDE
FGHIK
LMNOP
QRSTU
VWXYZ
(Note that I can stand for I or J) then take pairs of numbers from the code as meaning row and column numbers. So 24 = second row, fourth column = I,
33 = third row, trird column = N etc.
