Mm Links May 2013 Week 1
35 Answers
This is BigMac here, with week one of the May MM Links mayhem.
Older readers will remember my last series – where I mentioned my love of sport. So following the announcement on Tuesday of the touring party for the British and Irish Lions rugby team going to Australia in June, you won’t be surprised that I’ve been thinking of sport again.
This tour will see a ‘first’ for a Lions tour – a warm-up match against a Barbarians XV in Hong Kong, a venue perhaps best known in rugby for the HSBC 7s, before three tests in Brisbane, Melbourne and finally Sydney.
The Lions banter has already started following selection, with arguments over omissions – Robshaw? Best? – as well as selections: Stevens? Vunipola? And that’s just among Lions supporters – the exchanges with the Wallabies have barely started and, whatever the result of the tour, will be but an amuse bouche before the Ashes later in the summer.
Can’t forget that there is also a two-Test cricket series between England and New Zealand starting at Lord’s in a couple of weeks’ time; and Wimbledon to come, as well as more athletics at the Olympic stadium in Stratford.
If the gods are kind with the weather, what a spectacular summer of sport to come!
