59. Field Marshals Bernard Montgomery and Harold Alexander took the names of places in this Country as part of the titles of their Earldoms.
Help please - as far as I can see Montgomery was only a Viscount, not an Earl and would not have had an earldom. Also his title as Viscount was El Alamein which is in Egypt and Alexander - his title was Earl of Tunis which is in Tunisia. Am I missing something ?

Thanks Katburd for your reply. However, the question asks as to what places in what Country did they both take in their titles of their earldoms. Hence my confusion because Montgomery was not an earl and and his title as viscount was a place in Egypt and Alexanders title, as Earl was in Tunisia. I'm wondering perhaps if the question is somewhat incorrect.
