Bibblebub will be right. I think you were confused because you were looking for a 4/5 solution rather than the actual 5.4 pattern

thanks folks - your'e so right with the 5/4 split - confusion well explained by a torrid day doing my wife's & my Tax Return. As an aside, I've tried so hard to do my self-assessment on-line but I can't get past the question "How much is owing on your student grant ?"it won;t take "0", "zero" "zilch" and I was tempted to put a rude entry... so at 77yrs old looks like it's a pen & paper job, again, as I've never had a student loan anyway. But thanks again for your patience & answer.
