A quiz with a local Lancashire flavour. All the answers are the names of rivers, streams, becks etc within Lancashire.
1. Brown bread dipped in gravy (6). I thought maybe "Ribble" but can't reconcile "rile" with "gravy".
2. Electronic replace self when in front (7).
3. Slobber loses the idiot (7).
4. Turn left on the roads (8).
5. Rear char (8).
6. begins saving the young doe deer (5).
Any help will be much appreciated.

Morning boss, sorry I'm late, I've been trying to solve a puzzle for vimto. I got number 6. The answer is Stydd (brook) begins = (the beginning of the next words, i.e. Saving The Young Doe Deer)

Thank you tommy & winner. Winner, I think you must be correct with Ribble despite the number of letters required is shown as 7 as it's hard to leave out the main river in Lancadhire and the word play is perfect. Winner, I think Dunsop rather than Brunsop but you put me on the right track. Cottack, I have the list you refer to, ta. Just No.2 to complete; I thought "Wenning" but can't work out the word play. It seems such a clumsy clue. Any ideas would be very welcome Vimto.
