(I am sure the hypen must be relevant)

I was given gold fillings were made with ferrous chromium but cant find any reference and if it is that what does the R stand for

I did find a reference to freight carrying railcar for 1910 but have no ideas for the GF

Hi smouse  -  Sorry, no new ideas but would point out that the symbol for chromium is actually CR not C (which is carbon).  So maybe your hunch is correct.  Good Luck.

I was once a chemist - lol so I know that it is Cr but then if we are being fussy (and I am) it should be Fe (and we wont go into ferrous and ferric) but then it would be ferrous chromate which wouldnt be chromium and Cr isnt the symbol for chromate. You can see how this is driving me mad.

I appreciate the comments, I am only teasing with the above

You're absolutely right smouse, it still doesn't stack up.  The hyphen and capital letters are not from the chemistry lab, although the clue setter may have had a long pub lunch.  Do let us know the answer!

Hi smouse

I agree with johnalex chromium is CR, i have put gold fillings were made from ferro - chromium . posted mine off today so it wont be long belong now till we get our answers back to put us out of our misery

Just a thought:-
In 1910 gold filings were made with ferro-chromium resins.

I thought of that in the middle of the night and as I am not happy with capital C capital R for chromium that is what I will put.

Thanks

I'm also down to 1910 + 1912 and am asking everyone I see!

I found that the first commercial rayon was produced in 1910 so was going to put garment fabrics were made with first commercial rayon (but only to preserve my sanity and get it posted off). Now I think I'll change my mind!

Have you any pointers for 1912?

Thanks
