I assume the real number (1) is not using the same numbering system as dave1948 has used. We need the answer to the real number 1 I think

It makes sense. We needed the real number 1 to solve number 2. I was trying to think of the two answers together with a difference in letter/anagram, but completely on the wrong track ;-)
