Am I missing something here, Marsh and Donslot? I thought the answers had to include the word 'ten' within them, as in 'paTENt' above. I thought yesterday that - if No 2 read 'appeal or attraction' rather than 'appealing or attractive' - 'cuTENess' would fit. Sadly, it doesn't work as things are.

At Thesaurus.com, "ten" is given as a synonym under the headings pretty,  comely, glamourous, good-looking and gorgeous.  I presume it's American slang meaning "ten out of ten" and I can't find it the usage anywhere else.
"Tender" can mean "arousing warm feelings" (Collins English Dictionary), "arousing the softer passions" (Chambers English Dictionary
Neither convinces me and I'll give it some more thought.
