Question Author
have it now but now stuck on 1d punch ruined carousal 4 B??T
1d Belt (double definition)
I thought a carousal was a party
Carousel would work though (although often they don't when I'm at the airport)
It just shows how important correct spelling is: carousel and carousal have totally different meanings (sorry, I'm a bit of a pedant)
FF - I was going via these two defs of Belt:

a vigorous blow; "the sudden knock floored him"; "he took a bash right in his face"; "he got a bang on the head"

sing loudly and forcefully
That would work, Captain. Maybe I misremembered the meaning.

But a carousel is also a conveyor belt.

So either would work
ca·rous·al (k-rouzl)
n.
1. A riotous drinking party.
2. Boisterous drunken merrymaking or revelry.

I prefer the carousel version.

But, whatever- BELT is right
Question Author
thanks all but that now messes up 11a thicket has stunted old hedge 4
LHA? i had shaw -haw-hedge,s=stunted shaw=wood but the l from belt now throws me
Bust not belt?

Is it carousel or caousal?
Sorry- forget Bust
Question Author
it's carousAl
Bash
I apologise for leading everyone up a gum tree. I'm off to recharge the grey cells, they obviosly need it. Night all.
Bash= a carousal/party and means punch
All sorted now, I think
Question Author
thanks-started with bash but that led to my initial letters -obviously wrong as terakihi=fish with raki and he/it-think bust must be right=ruined and punch
So it was BUST.
I can see that bust = ruined, but I'm not sure that bust=punch and I can't see where carousal fits in
Question Author
bust=punch in chambers
Thanks. Bust will be right then although I don't understand the 'carousal' reference
