Please Can You Help Solve These 2 Puzzles

1. Different points are awarded to each fruit, don't know what each fruit is worth, but it is known which groups have the same value.
apple apple banana = cherry cherry.
cherry cherry cherry = banana banana banana apple apple
How many cherries give the same points as 4 bananas and 4 apples?

2. A coconut a melon cost £1.23. A melon & a pineapple cost £1.49. A coconut & a pineapple cost £1.44.
What is the price of each individual fruit?

m + p = £1.49
c + p = £1.44
add all three together
2c + 2m + 2p = £2.16
so
c + m + p = £2.08
hence

2. I make the coconut 59p, melon 64p, pineapple 85p. but then probably wrong, it's late.

apologies total for adding all three groups togther should be £4.16 not £2.16

1. 2a+3b= 3c
2a+ b=2c. subtract and get...2b=c. b= 1/2 c. 2a + b=2c...a=3/4c.
4a=3 + 4b=2
answer 5, like Pixie said 10 minutes ago.
