For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.This really isn't a case of asking questions and getting answers. For those that don't do Quizmail, every month we get 150 questions and about 3 weeks to answer them in. Normally you get 5 - 10 'swine' questions which end up on here beng discussed. Key word there - discussed. As you'd expect, many of us are regulars on here and frequently post in these quizmail questions. Others who don't do the quizmail but know the answer also join in. Great - What's the problem you ask.
The problem is when we have around 3 weeks to do the quiz, someone comes along after 5 days and asks for help on many questions - still got 2 weeks to go, give it a chance. Or when someone comes along and asks for help on 20 of the questions without EVER joining in on previous questions and helping wth answers. Is this fair - not really, Is this why after the 20th question being asked somebody (well it was me this time) pointed out it was all take take take with no give - YES!
I've defended (as my peers will testify) the use of this site to the hilt, when fights have broken out on here as to the ethics of doing a quizmail and asking for help, it therefore annoys me when people take advantage.
Barber,
If you are still participating in this discussion perhaps you will receive some sympathy and understanding if you explain where and with what resources you had researched these questions and had failed to find the answers.
If you only used internet sources then would you agree that reference books and visits to your local library must become part of attempting the quiz. Serious research cannot be done just by sitting in front of a computer.
Postalquiz and the rest of the smug 150 brigade don't want the use of answerbahk to dilute their regular winnings. To talk of serious research required for what is supposed to be a lighthearted quiz is over the top. I notice that some quizmaillers have formed their own discussion group to escape the vitriol of postalquiz and his ilk.
It is some months since I last entered into one of these discussions because as usual everyone thinks they are in the right but perhaps I could make a few points.
mldr79 I believe you have the right attitude NOBODY objects to quizzers asking questions from Quizmail or similar quizzes but surely if you are given 3 or 4 weeks to find the answers it should not be too much trouble to make the effort to find ALL the answers yourself then if you are stuck with just a few days to go before the deadline then post your question and I am sure most people will only be to happy to try to help you.
Liam Trader. Don't be nervous about asking for help but please make every effort to find the answer in the first few weeks of the quiz and I am sure you will be surprised and delighted at how well you can do. Then as I said if you are really stuck ask for help.
Denise S. You are of course joking when you say that people are worried about having their winnings diluted. If Quizmail still pays out the same sort of money as it used to when I entered we are only talking about 1 or 2 pounds.
I assume by the smug 150 brigade you are referring to people who get the answers correct I am sure that anyone who gets the quiz all correct has spent many hours searching for the answers and it galls them to see other contestants who haven't bothered putting in any research being given the answers only a few days after the quiz starts but I am 100% certain this has nothing to do with money.
