machar?
Stachain - is mentioned here http://forargyll.com/2008/11/inveraray-18th-november-public-enquiry-on-stachain-wind-farm/

but it's neither an anagram nor a place that anyone outside of Stachain knows exists
is there a place called Bligh(t)?
Tain (t) ??
Ouzel's answer sounds good to me.
A taint is a blemish, etc and Tain is a place in Scotland.
looking for a place in Scotland not a blemish, imo.

bump, come on chaps.
Gen251,I wish someone would come up with the answer. I've spent ages trying to figure it out but I'm giving up.I think Ouzel's answer fits perfectly if the clue was cryptic.Perhaps the setter has made a mistake ???
(T)Arnish?
You seem certain it's an anagram but someone on another thread insists it's a question not an anagram
