Thanks Baldric, this has been annoying a friend of mine for ages. I realised my title should have been 'linkwords' They got another one wrong. It was 'french' and 'to manual'. They put 'stick' but we now know this isn't right. Can you help please?

Thanks Sandyroe but there must be an 'h' in it somewhere to make up the right letters for the answer.

No there's no 'o' needed for the answer. The answer was made up from one letter in each column of 10 linkwords. The clue was 'bird' and the answer was 'greenshank'. All the letters are accounted for except the 'h'.

I would agree with Doors so I would suggest your friend has gone wrong with another question i.e.

Thanks and yes you're probably right, in which case the one they have wrong is 'Market' and 'Index' - they put 'price'. We need an 'h' in the ........ just got it - it's 'SHARE'. Thanks everyone for all your help.
