think 1a might be ....withdraw
as in making the ball draw back & back out =withdraw
possibly wallop for 1d ? dont know what that has to do with drink though ..

what have you got for 2d then? Ive got crash.do you know what 3d & 9a are?

Have also been stuck on this ,, I think Wallop is correct.  When i lived in London quite a few years ago we always used to ask for a pint of Wallop in the Pub....as for 1a .. Ive tried the word Wrongway but that dosn't seem to help with 2d... but we will solve it in the end..
2d ive got trash
9a just makes no sense to me at all
toying with DAWN for 3d asin N = note & wad =pad backwards = dawn but not sure at all

Beerbelly  -  Thanks for your reply.  Not convinced about 'Withdraw'.  Do you have any other letters, apart from 'W' (for 'wallop')?

I am absolutely certain 1a is Withdraw and 3 down Dawn which gives 9a as L?A?W?R? - someone must know the answer!!
