Stuck for two answers on quiz. Answer is a Hamlet, village, town or place within West and East Sussex.

a. This should be cut when on a public road in a town.

b. Cricket competition without protection but verdant. (the only place I can come up with is "Balls Green")

Any suggestions out there that will solve these will be gratefully received.

Your "Ballls Green" seems to me to fit the bill perfectly!
As for the first one, as a Sussex man myself I'm ashamed not to be able to come up with some appropriate name! I'll go on looking though............
Thanks Maurice

I've come across a place called "Hole Street" (near Storrington), which might qualify, I suppose..............

Maurice I think i have got it ....Brownbread Street, Ashburnham, Rother District.

I have never heard of it although I have lived in Sussex for 40 odd years.

Regards & thanks
Well I never! It's not even on my large-scale map! How on earth did you find it?
Thanx, Scorpio. I wasn't familiar with gazeteer.org!
I've lived in Sussex for nearly 30 years and they're new names to me too.
