gnar as in gnarled

cycle

I think it's spelt Knar
It can be Gnar or Knar according to Chambers.

Chambers has both spellings.

As a matter of interest do they accept either spelling for prize crosswords or do they only accept one
can also be spelt  KNUR   I can't remember the clue across that connected with this .
Thats added to the problem as to which one they will accept, I would think that there are a lot of people that were thinkig there was only one answer
Just to add my fourpennyworth...I put Knur because K was the fifth letter of the 11a clue ..Japanese suicide ..the answer to which was Hari Kari.Chambers also has knur.
Kosoro  -  Next week's printed solution should show multiple answers in 'split cells'.  I can't remember ever having seen more than two valid solutions to one clue  -  has anyone else?  'Knar' and 'Knur' should be admissible but not sure about 'Gnar'  -  Gen2 please confirm (thought this variant was spelt 'Gnarl').  Cheers, ja.
I don,t have that paper but would be interestd to know the answer

johnalex, 'gnar' is definitely in Chambers.  I don't still have the crossword so I cannot remember how it related to the other clues.  Maybe it was 'Knar' that I put in at the time.  Like you, I shall await revelation at the wekend.

johnalex - both gen2 and I said gnar WAS in Chambers - did you not believe us or something?
Biley  -  Since 'gnar' does not appear in the latest Complete and Unabridged version of Collins English Dictionary, whereas 'gnarl' does, I thought it perfectly reasonable to ask for Gen2's confirmation.  My question was friendly and politely worded  -  so was Gen2's reply. You really should try this technique some time  -  it's a combination of dignity and good manners. A whole new experience awaits you  -  give it a try.
