Ice cap.
Think the other is Pluto..Popeyes arch enemy.
Question Author

Think the cold mass is ICE PAN (anagram of PANIC round the east - E). Not heard of that before today!

Think the other one must be BLUTO - from B (for British) and LUTO (lout turned). Never heard of that one!

Sorry to doubt you Debbie, but what is the question that leads you to believe the "British lout" clue begins with "l" ?

Question Author

Hi Debbie. Think that would be MAILBAG (anagram of LIMA, B for British and AG for silver). What do you think?
Question Author

Well you learn something new every day!! Never heard of an ice pan either.
I only thought of Pluto because of the word animated in the clue which led me to think of a cartoon character.
Bluto is a new one on me too!!
Good luck Debbie.
Bluto was Popeye's rival for the attentions of Olive Oyl
Doh !!!
Whatever made me put Pluto!! .Just shows how long ago I watched a Popeye cartoon!!
Bluto/brutus are the same character. After the Popeye cartoon series went out of production in 1957, Bluto's name was changed to Brutus because of copyright problems. Brutus appears in the 1961 Popeye cartoon series but he is again Bluto in the 1978 Hanna-Barbera Popeye series and 1980 movie.
