Forgot to say - answer will be  a Derbyshire town or village .
What's the link with birds? There is a Sparrowpit in Debyshire - or is it an anagram of rotten and sit?
Question Author
There is a bird 'connection'  but it can't be Sparrowpit as already have this as answer to another clue.

An anagram of ROTTEN SIT(e) gives you Tittensor.

Though according to my atlas, Tittensor is actually over the border in Staffs. It contains the bird TIT.

I'm sure you've been looking at maps - how about here:-

http://www.derbyshireuk.net/townsandvillages.html

may not be comprehensive, can't see any obvious aswers apart from the two 'doves'.

gen2 is probably right?
