..7 (colours of rainbow) + 2 (to) + 6 + 5 + 37 + (23 answer ) + 5 + 5 + (25) + 3 + 3 + (9) + 91 + 2 (to) + 1 + (9 answer)  = 236 (sorry changed my mind ...as do the setters of these tv maths puzzles)

add the numbers.  Everything bar 'what is five fives plus three threes' is asking about things that aren't numbers, ie colours, minutes, pennies.

Answer is therefore 34.

based on piper-AK's answer, if you add all the numbers mentioned in the question, I think you get 174

i watched this last night for the first time! i thought the answer was 73 too but after thinking for an unbelievably long time i thought it might be something to do with Roman Numerals. If you add up all the M's C's D's etc it gives an answer of seven thousand and something. cant remember now-ripped it up in a furious rage when i couldnt get through
