36 I parse this as
Pet name for to take = "nick" + el(k) covering. I use the word "covering" as a word meaning "following" as in scouts are "covered" by the next group of soldiers etc. obviously elk without the end letter "k"

"Enigma" parses it as nick + (p)el(t). Animal covering = pelt but endless = both ends removed
