Matfield
I suggested matfield on an earlier post, don't think caller liked it x
It does exist...I googled it!
so did I, lol x
A very very very iffy
Wolverhampton

wool (like a rug) ver (greenish!) hampton (settlement/possibly enclosed)

Clutching at straws!
rugley.....rug lea
I would agree with Matfield
I thought that earlier Mallyh or at least Rugeley but could not explain the e in the middle if written or the pronunciation "rouge" rather thn "rug" if "sounds like".

It's a tough one isn't it ?
If 'rug' is in the qn it's unlikely to be part of the answer IMO.

Matfield is a small village in Kent in the South East of England
Hi Elliemay - yes Matfield certainly fits but it is very small. The other answers from this asker are Banbury, Felixstowe, Sittingbourne, Dewsbury, and Alloa. Considerably larger.

Matfield may well be correct, but I m still trying to think of something else.
Thanks JJ. Will keep thinking too!
could rug mean wig?
yes mallyh - wigan (wig on) but I can't get the green enclosure
I thought it may be something like s - - - ...age, but could only think of Stevenage and Swanage. Other greens mint, lime - I've tried also
I'm struggling!
