Are Quizzers Becoming Lazy?

I have noticed that more questions are being asked on quizzes with two, sometimes three, months to run.
Are people becoming lazy and letting others do the work?, or is it a case of I must finish it NOW because my life is so busy!
The prizes are hardly life-changing so I doubt financial reasons are the cause.
I am just curious to have an insight into this, so please hold back on the abuse if possible.

Like you, Quizmaster, I'm frequently surprised by the urgency of the requests for help when there are, literally, months to go. I don't have any answers (!) and am equally curious.

I think there's a certain amount of impatience for some people, I do as much as I can on a quiz then put it aside for a while - for others there's a sense of urgency to get it done.

Far from a money making hobby, mine costs me a packet and I may have to cut down somewhat soon, which will be a sad day.

I think if one or two from a quiz sheet are giving problems then fair enough, ask. If you end up needing double figures answers then put it in the bin, it's not for you.
Similar to looking up the answers at the back of the book, there's no real point.

I agree with all of you and certain people do it time and time again and you notice how many times, and how often they ask .

I'm sure lots of people are annoyed by 'Latest Posts' being clogged up by crossword questions on Sats and Sundays.

I do ask for help if I'm completely stuck on a cryptic and need help to get going, otherwise I use Chambers' Word Wizard or Google.

Crosswords are here today and gone tomorrow sort of thing - Charity quizzes are a bit different.

I've stopped doing quite a few quizzes because of this people asking for answers when the quiz is barely out of the envelope. Its also very annoying when you've spent ages finding an answer and someone asks and is immediately given the answer.

I understand some of the frustration with people pushing for loads of answers when there are months to go, but as for the point about answers being given on here after you've spent ages working it out ignores the point that some people enjoy spending ages looking for an answer

The point I'm making is that no-one is forced to spend ages trying to work out an answer if they don't enjoy it. If the aim is to help the charity then doe sit matter whether you work all the answers out?

There's no way of knowing how much spare time people have or when, so i don't think it matters when they ask. It is annoying when you just can't get one, so I understand why they would ask. I do wonder sometimes why you use this site, Chorley, as you seem to disapprove of it a lot. Nobody has to read threads if they don't want to see an answer.

Surely only those who ask early and ask a lot can answer this. If it isn't for the prize money, small as it may be, why do they not send it in with blanks and wait for the answer sheet to come back

I think you would want to know the answer if you have been thinking about it for some time. This site is usually able to help

I find it a bit boring when the same questions are asked by a number of posters. They do not comply with the guidelines to look at previous posts, and are constantly having to be asked to comply. The situation regarding duplicate posts is particularly noticeable on a weekend. I think that there are some posters who may be a bit lazy as some of the answers are not too hard to find. Having said all that, it helps to pass the time and if it helps out that's alright.

Pixie if you have been thinking about this question for some time why not wait until your answer sheet comes back and then you'll see the answer.

Sometimes when i've worked on a crossword clue or quiz question for ages, chorley9, I find that I dream about it or it's going through my mind and stopping me getting back to sleep (sad, I know), and the best way out is to find out the answer- like the Mrs Rotti one recently on here (although the answer turned out to be a disappointment)
