Little George. Age 16,has decided to plant a vineyard.He has 20 acres of South facing,chalky soil in Sussex and will plant half with Chardonnay at 3500 vines per hectare and half with Pinot Noir at 4500 vines per hectare.Assuming planting costs at £10,000 per acre and no crop for 2 years,followed by a yield of 75 litres of wine from each 100 vines,if he sells his bulk wine for £5 a litre,how old will he be before he sees a profit?
I am lousy at maths!!!!! Any help would be grAteful

Maths on New Years Day ????
20 acres planting costs = 10000 x 20 = 200,000 pounds
1 acre = 0.404686 hectares
Therefore 10 acres = 4.04686 hectares
Chardonnay = 4.04686 hectares x 3500 vines = 14164 vines
Pinot Noir = 4.04686 hectares x 4500 vines = 18211 vines
Total vines = 14164 + 18211 = 32375 vines

Yield = 32375 / 100 vines X 75 litres = 24281.25 litres
Sold for 5 x 24281.25 = 121406 pounds
Obviously 2 years to recoup the planting cost

Age will be 16 + 2 (years no crop) + 2 (years to recoup) = 20

He will be 20
caveats
1. no other costs apart from the original planting costs
2. Yield is constant at 75 litres per 100 vines each year
3. No vine replacement costs
4. Sells at 5 pounds per litre each year
