A satisfyingly tricky one this week. Set off tracing the wrong river, but after I found the 'sabotage' village, I got myself onto the right track, found the priory, and eventually the penny dropped about what the 'home to 13,000' refers to.

Beware: a certain BS who posts the answer to this puzzle on another site every week has got both answers very wrong!

Yes, got it this week. Won't send it in because I'm TT so don't want the prize. Been sending entries for years & have never won.

Have any of you ever won or do you know someone who has?

Always good fun anyway.
I wish I could say that I had solved it but... I have two answers in my head at the moment!

I was always taught that the Tyne was one of the fastest rivers (and certainly satisfies the question of length).

Then I flicked through some old research notes and found that Glamis was the name of a sabotage plan used by the SOE. Certainly, the late Queen Mother’s brother was head of the SOE for a time, but beyond that, I’m lost. Neither the Tay nor the Isla are 73 miles long and the 13,000 thing has me stumped.

If it is that neck of the woods, then it’s highly embarrassing. I lived in Fife and Tayside for 20 years...!

It's not the Tyne, flysi - and definitely NOT in Scotland!

Yes, MWG, been doing this puzzle since 1999 (when you had to send a postcard to Leighton Buzzard) and no search engines to help. Never won though, but it's fun trying....
