Have got answers to all 65 but there are 3 I don't understand where they come from. Pretty sure other 62 are correct.
3. You said replace me in eminence. HULL.
9. How to include one beginner, shy and confused. SHANDY HALL. Can see that shy and gives the first word.
18. Water operated. GAYLE MILL.
Any explanations welcome.
Eminence = HILL replace the I(me) with U(you)
If the suggestions came from kelster i wouldn't be sure they are right. She often 'gave it a great deal of thought' then suggested something that bore little relation to the clue but with more or less the right letter count and then waited for someone here to give the right answer.
I'll have a think about these whn i get chance later this morning
one beginner would be AL , but I'm not sure where the rest of HALL comes from
18 May just be that the name sounds as if it is wind operated (gale).
Does the clu end with a question mark?
Question Author
18. Yes it does have a question mark. Sorry missed that.
Clue says 'water' operated, not 'wind' though
If it is "water" operated what has that to do with "wind". Sure "Gayle Mill" would fit if it was "wind operated" but not "water operated"

Unfortunately, I cannot think of an alternative answer!
Can you give us details of the
Submitted itself there!
Can you give us details of the quiz please- organiser, where to get a copy, closing date.
I suppose with a name like Gayle Mill someone might question it when told it's water mill (a Water Mill?)
I was suggesting that the question mark implied that although it sounded as if it was wind operated, it wasn't. Just a guess though.

Water operated - river used - River Ouse. Does this fit better?
