1. A king promises to give his daughter's hand in marriage to the winner of a horse race. Problem is, the winner has to be the LAST horse to cross the finishing line. What can the competitors do? No one is willing to start the race!
This works better when it's a two-horse race Grisy - don't think it can work with more than two, can it? Also the prize has to be the owner of the winning horse, does it not? Forgive me if I am wrong but have seen this in another guise and cannot see how the answer can be worked out as you have given it.
Ya, switch horses.
Thousand apologies people but I didn't hear it as a two horse race, although now I see that it would make more sense that way. Err.. maybe the point is just to start the race and not to ensure winning it?
Didn't know it was a classic. I just heard it a year ago.
