as in the actual word 'six'...? That's quite a lateral leap :)
If the clue was 'in six' rather than 'in a six', I might be tempted...
Wonder if there is an actual object beginning with S that does contain a dot and a cross...

The letter O mightn't necessarily be the word 'one' as 1 D is written in figures

The quiz (of 50 clues) is set out as follows:
Every clue starts with a number and everything else is in word or letter form (see the clues in the other link).
Because of this, the O should be the start of a word of some sort and definitely not a zero (0) which is what, for example, the 'Iffy answer' in the other link assumes.
Of course, as you say, it may not stand for 'one'; the answer may be another word beginning with 'O' and 'C' may even be, for instance, something like 'contained' rather than a noun.
OC may even be Olivia Coleman...!! Who knows :)

To clarify, one of the clues in this quiz was:
3 PTPOES which is:
3 Plus Two Plus One Equals Six
i.e. the quiz-setter uses letters to represent the word-form of any other numbers that are in the clue; he never has any actual digits anywhere other than at the very beginning.

And, ficfac, you're absolutely correct; there are multiple answers for the 3 PTPOES clue.
I suspect, knowing the setter, that the one I proposed is the one he's looking for but the others are, as you say, equally valid.
