I have been doing the Mail cryptic crossword for a few weeks , but I don't like their Saturday one, it just doesn't seem to be in the same class (clue-wise). Can anyone recommend a good cryptic crossword for Saturdays please? I get withdrawal symptoms on a Saturday..........

Try the Daily Telegraph - cryptic crossword on back of main newspaper - with the added bonus of a General Knowledge crossword in the "Weekend" section.

There's a very good cryptic and a devilishly difficult knowledge crossword in the weekend Financial Times.

There's a lot of reading too!

There is also an excellent cryptic (with a prize) on the back of the Times, with another Jumbo cryptic in the Books section (you get about 10 days to send that one in).

Thanx, think I'll try the Times tomorrow.

For a limited time, The Grauniad's excellent crosswords are available to download free from this site.

Saturday's is particularly fiendish, especially when Araucaria is compiling.

I agree with MaryDou, Saturday`s Daily Torygraph also has the chance to win a 100 fountain pen and sometimes a Roberts DAB radio. The Times one takes quite a while to get used to the compiler`s mindset!

Smiffy, Thank you again.

The Times today was the first real challenge for a long time.
