Sorry about the typos in my last message. Should say ING going downwards and back to front. On the right there is a maze with MENT in it. Assuming it is backing down in amazement but I have never heard that expression. Any ideas?

Looking back in amazement ??
I have seen "stepping back in amazement" but that does not really fit.
That could work Danny as the previous description was 'going downhill' so rather than straight down it was 'stepped'?
eg

---G
____N
_____I
look ing back in amazement?
I've seen that offered but unsure which part gives 'look'
An as Lynne has pointed out the word ing is stepped
Question Author
Sorry my fault. the I, N and G are directly below each other. Not stepped. I suppose it could be the steps of a ladder rather than stairs ??
I misunderstood 'downhill' as sloping, sorry.
Question Author
But it still doesn't explain why the letters are back to front. Very puzzled
