86 Incentive for shopping….

Having trawled through all the posts on this site and the 'other' one I have yet to see a definitive answer.

payoff , payout , buyoff, carrot , bounty , rebate , parole , reward , pardon , coupon all have pluses but none seem to fit exactly. My personal favourite is Pardon, but still not convinced.

Any other suggestions please.

Forgot to put that it's six letters. Sorry.
I have considered appeal , threat, magnet, spring and fillip in the past. But the answer must have some connection with the Law.
Appeal does have some appeal but it doesn't seem to fit the clue so well .
Reward There is sometimes a reward if you "shop" someone.
That sounds good, cashier
Thanks Calibax.
A day or two ago when 86 was first queried JJ109 gave this clue.
"Artist but not a person's name - don't think of actual artists."
The clue didn't make any sense to me until now. Cashier has suggested the answer might be REWARD (for shopping someone). This word is DRAWER backwards and could be the answer to JJ109's clue i.e. artist being a DRAWER.

Reward was in my list and I understand the reasoning except I don't think it is the correct answer. I think it should be a single word for both incentive and shopping(informing), reward comes as a result of shopping, but does not reflect the word itself. Or am I being too pedantic?
No I don't think you're being too pedantic. I couldn't understand JJ109's clue as couldn't see where the artist came - now I can. Like you I'm not convinced it's correct - but when the end of November comes and push comes to shove..........

An incentive for 'shopping' someone is a reward. Simple as that, IMO!
Agree with you Elliemay - it's pure and simple.

I thought a bit more about reward. Maybe I misinterpreted the type of clue it was.

I can see the logic.

A reward can be an incentive for shopping at tescos

A reward can be an incentive for shopping a criminal

Unless someone comes up with another brilliant answer I think it would be best to put this to rest.

Thanks to all who contributed.
