Saga mag December

To all you incredibly intelligent people out there who know the answers to any of the questions, could you please help me make a start on it?I have only ever finished it once, but most times,as now, I can't think of any of the answers!

It's the crossword in December's Saga magazine but they are all those horrible cryptic questions and as I haven't managed to answer even 1, I was hoping there may be someone who has made a start on it.I only try to do it to impress my brother, but it is out of my league really.

You're all lucky to receive the Saga magazine. I have been a subscriber since May and delivery has been so erratic, so much that I missed October's crossword.

I only started subscribing because we won a dictionary through our friend's magazine in April and found the crossword quite mind-bending.

It appears there is a three week window to despatch two million magazines (approx two weeks before and one week after the first of the month).

I will catch up with you at the beginning of the month, hopefully.

17 dn Litotes (anag. TS Eliot, litotes means understatement)

26 ac Shepherd - well, work it out for yourself
