Any help with the following clues would be very welcome! All answers are weights or measures and no letter count given. 6. ? Gang 8. Staffordshire one? 25. ? of cloth. Thanks
Thanks fiction-factory and shoota. Should have got chain gang! The clue says Staffordshire, can you explain pole please? I thought of a yard of cloth but I've already got yard for No.13 ? Stick.
//Ell. ... An ell (from Proto-Germanic *alinō, cognate with Latin ulna) is a unit of measurement originally understood as a cubit, the combined length of the forearm and extended hand.//
Thanks elliemay1 that's a good suggestion. Of course a staff can be a pole, fiction-factory, my mind just wasn't thinking that way! If I can't think of anything else I'll use that answer despite it not really fitting the clue. Thanks everyone for your help
Sorry, Davemano, hadn't seen your answer - that sounds good, thanks. Also fiction-factory, another good idea! Will make my choice, thanks again for your help.
Thanks shoota for adding that suggestion for the cloth as I hadn't realised I already had Ell as another answer! I'd never heard of that - it's amazing what you learn on the AB!
