Welcome to Title Builder Beta.

This small piece of kit is designed to make building your Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle question more effective. It should make finding your question easier for others and, the easier it is to find, the more likely someone is to answer it!

To build an easy to find question title simply select the paper and quiz, enter the quiz number if relevant and fill in the Publication Date. Once you’re happy click “Build Title” and the information should populate the Title field. Fill in the final required details of your question as you normally would, and click submit.

As this is a Beta we only have a limited number of papers and quizzes listed. If you think your favourite Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle should be listed here don’t hesitate to contact us.

Remember: You do not have to use the title builder - simply enter the title and question as you normally would and click submit!

Places with animal, name, colour or foodstuff connections AND are as near as possible to how they sound. e.g. Had a fight with big Bill = Fort William. Clue 1. Bkackthorn bovine sire hamlet. Clue 2. Pure peaceful abode. Any help would be appreciated as they are driving me demented. Many thanks in advance.

Many thanks Sgeandhu - Unfortunately I already have Whitehaven as an answer to one of the other questions which I am pretty sure is right. Even so, thank you for taking the time to think about it - if you do have any more thoughts on these two clues I would be very pleased to have them.

blackthorn also known as Sloe

bovine sire = Bull? or ox?

hamlet = village?

slowbull village, doesn't sound right

Perhaps you would give us the clue for which you have the answer as Whitehaven, Freda7? Whitehaven looks so right for the clue above that it seems almost sad to have to look for a different answer.

Biley - I'm doing the same quiz as Freda7 and infact there are 2 clues which could give the answer Whitehaven -

Pure peaceful abode or

Snow coloured retreat

I'm undecided which is the best clue - what does anyone else think?

(I too am stuck on Blackthorn bovine sire hamlet)

Well for what its worth, I agree with Freda7 that Whitehaven is more likely to be the answer to snow coloured retreat than pure peaceful abode.

Valerieb1254 could well be right for the latter and if it is not muddying the waters too much, think the blackthorn bovine sire hamlet probably ends in thorp or thorpe, though I have been through many variations on the theme without success. Sorry not to have been more help.

Thanks for the info on Hamlet ..Never heard it as Thorpe. I'm wondering if the clue should have been HAWTHORN and not BLACKTHORN.

If so it could be MAYBLETHORPE.

I like that, valerieb1254! I was thinking along the same lines with sloe - ie sloblethorpe but of course there isn't a place with that name!

Well if there isn't a clue with Mablethorpe as its answer, then maybe that is indeed what the compiler meant!
