I was trying to make 'gannet' fit but can't.

Money inside - was thinking 'ann' might be an alternative name for the 'anna' coin but it isn't.

We was thinking the same chinajan, but your right, the indian coin was an Anna, never seen it called just ANN.
We been through a list of birds and cant see anything else that come's close (tried bag= nab, net, sack, sac, bag, sag, case )

I'm thinking money might be p (penny), pp (pence), L (pound) or a combination of the letters inside a synonym for bag, giving the name of a bird or type of bird like duck or falcon.

Hi Jenniferd. I’ve seen that answer too, but can’t see how it corresponds to “putting money into bag”? I was expecting eg a 3-letter term for money (or a currency etc) inside a 3-letter term for bag (the adjective or noun).
