I'm hoping that it's definitely 'currants', as I can't think of many words that pair together with 'sultanas'!
I was one of the first people in the country to be awarded the title of 'Regional Coach' by the British Chess Federation and, as far as I'm concerned, all chessmen are 'pieces'. (The distinction in the clue is entirely new to me!)
