Thanks very much Fibonacci! I thought the answer to (6) was Scotch Black Bun and the answer to (1) might be German Biscuits (more commonly known as Empire Biscuits). Just wanted to make sure.

I found that as well bobb, but not convinced they are the names of cakes. Have googled the recipe for them and came up blank, also anagram searched the letters and got nowhere.

For 5 I thought of TRIFLE OF AWE, which sounds a bit cakey, but it doesn't seem to exist!
