I have a lot of tinned and frozen stuff which I need to use up over the next week to make room for Christmas things.
I want to use up bulky (boxes of vegetarian things)from the freezer, and numerous tinned things (mainly different beans). I’d like to hear about your ‘using stuff up’ ideas if you’d like to share them.
I have a variety of herbs and spices, and some softish potatoes, and some iffy onions but not much fresh veg.
Thanks.

I am the same vagus. I was in my freezer tonight deciding what we gotta eat up by next week. That half full tub of ice cream won't be a problem.

Ha ha Sharon, that’ll be the first thing to go ;)
Bombay potatoes (if you have the right spices)

Would than be a meal sj? Or would it need other things?
Not really -it's a side dish
Veg and bean stew/casserole then add diced potatoes half way through.
Soups, using the potatoes and onions as a base.
get rid of your boxes first - then mark your item with a Sharpa - that should leave you some room.

I’ve done a lot of soups lately, was wanting to make sort of casserole type stuff but am looking for inspiration in terms of herbs and spices to..err..spice it up a bit.
Am not hugely confident with spices though.

Sorry Jenny, you’ve lost me..
If you've got thyme, rosemary and oregano, they usually go well in a casserole and maybe some paprika. What herbs and spices do you have?
sorry Vagus - take the stuff out of the cardboard boxes and mark on the plastic covering what the item is ie cauliflower, chicken curry, lasagne etc. Boxes take up an awful lot of room.
I once made the mistake of freezing some iffy onions which I chopped up and froze but a month or so later they felt a funny texture and gave me a real bad stomach upset
I can only think of soup. But leave out the icecream!! Add a bit of cumin powder to spice it up.
Have you a slow cooker Vagus? Lob them all in for a veggie stew. Great for clearing out the freezer!
Take non perishables to a food bank .
Sorry V, didn't see the 20:09 post until after I posted. Depends what kind of taste you're looking for. This may help-

Have ready a medium sized yorkshire pudding for each person you will feed.
Tip all the food into a wok and when any frozen food has defrosted add some curry powder and gravy powder/granules and an oxo add some water heat up and mix until the gravy/sauce is to your liking serve into the pre-warmed puddings onto each plate

Masterchef, that sounds very tasty, only problem is I don’t have any Yorkshire puds. Must bear your suggestion in mind for the future, sounds a great way to use things up. Many thanks.
Thanks to everyone for your suggestions too.
Yorkshie puddings are very simple to make but there is no shame in buying ready made ones, they are available in the big supermarkets and very cheap, quiet large ones two in a pack for about £1 if I remember rightly from the last time I saw them
