I have two inhalers which my GP is going to replace with two that have less carbon emissions. Who'd have thought it.

Minty//.hope you find them beneficial//
The medication is the same.It is the propellant that is being changed.
Racket.
Be careful at first use, Danny.
^Forgot to wink. ;-)
// The metered dose inhaler (MDI) was developed in the 1950's. The propellant used in MDIs used to contain CFCs (Chlorofluorocarbons). The propellant in most of the MDIs now is an HFA (hydrofluoroalkane) propellant.//

OK in AB speak - inhalers had that fridge stuff in it.It is very bad as it is very stable. The vapour anaesthetic halothane ( CF3CHBrCl - there are some things you never forget) is a hydro-( fluorocarbon), which is bad but unstable so less bad. The hydro skews the internal energy and makes it easier to split ( break down) by sunlight

Like delta- omicron, it all depends on numbers
Once you make fridges safe - then the quantity goes down ( megaton a year) BUT the contribution from also-rans becomes important.

CFC is one of the O level subjects ( one of the hardest!) - you have to decide as a greenie how much is produced at sea level ( megaton). How much goes into the upper atmosphere ( a fraction to be decided) - how much arrives unchanged. What it does to ozone ( slow fast or terrible) and finally if it breaks down there or regenerates to degrade more ozone and kill babies

Greenies spend a lot of time staring at their belly buttons

Someone asked

//Greenies spend a lot of time staring at their belly buttons//

Do they find fluff?
O god you all really knew that if a bad inhaler said salbutamol it had salbutamol in it

and if a good inhaler that says salbutamol, then it STILL contains salbutamol ? - - this is a matter of Law, foo is it? Yes

yeah we did really

BUT .... suppose you have digoxin ( heart tablet to you proles) and it is in a tablet with lactose ( sugar to you lot) and you change it to a tablet with calcium doo-dah ( ground up bone or something) ..... will it affect the absorption ( how much you get per tablet) ?
Old one - yes 1975

yeah Green fluff
Is there another colour of fluff that would be preferable Pete?
Question Author
Peter. the inhalers will still contain the same medication(salbutamol etc) it is the propellant that is different.
Is your knew inhaler a big sort of disk, danny?
yeah blue
now THIS is a thread I can er get my teeth into !

you know someone has written a paper ( = learned article) about this - Blue because of so many blue shirts
// it is the propellant that is different.//

Peter ( actually I now understand why so many of my posts get deleted) does an Edvard Mvnch 'Scream' position and says

oh right - er didnt realise - - sozza
Question Author
Barry, they are being delivered today so cantsay what they look like. One of the present ones (Trelegy)is something like a big disc.
My salbutamol was changed from the elbow-shaped device that sort of fits in a trouser pocket to a huge disk that doesn't.
Question Author
Wow! that does sound big.
Goodness, Danny, they will be fitting you with a catalytic converter next ;)
