Mamyalynne - many thanks for your interest …on my sheet the clue is definitely a 9 lettered word and MUNDANENESS
is more than that. Seems to have caused a problem for some people - assume you miscounted and meant MUNDANESS thanks for your help anyhow!

But the final word is spelled 'Mundaneness'.
I would say the Setter got confused themselves with those two 'NE'

Tolkien in my opinion it wasn't clear we had to find a 4 letter river that would also result in a 9 letter ( or 11) word

There were 3 corrections sent out to this quiz. No 36 was changed completely & No 30 & No 47 had amendments. I found a number of the rivers were in the Irish Republic, which threw me a bit.
