I know it The Beach by Alex Garland, but that hasn't helped me. Mallyh, I have never seen a dingbat like it before either.

If you take a look at the quote from "The Beach" you will see that is says "I carry a lot of scares I like the way that sounds I carry a lot of scares" Not scars!
