Is “suchfun” a legitimate English word? It seems to be the only possible word to complete today’s Guardian codeword (1st August 2022).
Where is the satisfaction in spending time on a puzzle if the compiler rides roughshod over the unwritten rules?

Could you write a strong letter of complaint to the editor of the Guardian, using green ink, of course?

it's in an urban dictionary.
But it's 2 words in the Urban dictionary:
//https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=such%20fun//
Question Author
So is “apples and pears”. That doesn’t make it a single word.
Question Author
Even if urban slang is admissible, it’s still a phrase not a word. The puzzle is called “Codeword”, not Codephrase.
Yours sincerely,
Disgusted of Chiswick!
are you sure it's the answer?
Surely that can't be the answer
Question Author
Yep. Every letter is the only possibility according to the Codeword rules.
It’s a 7 letter word. S,U,C,H,U(again)and N are all used (more than once) elsewhere in the puzzle which all fits together perfectly.
The only unused letter available to fill position 5 is “F”.

Could you write a strong letter of complaint to the editor of the Guardian, using green ink, of course?
Question Author
Hahaha. That’ll show ‘em!
He or she is making suchfun (sic) of us!
Question Author
Hahahaha. Very good!
Is there not a chance you went wrong somewhere?
Question Author
In the words of Arthur Conan Doyle:
“ When you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth”.
Question Author
Improbable though it may seem, the only possibility is that the compiler has cheated.
I know I ought to get out more, but I have been analysing the words used in Codeword for the last year. The busiest 4-letter word is TSAR (12 appearances) then USED(11), TAXI(10) and AXLE(10). 5-letters: XENON(9), is beaten by two animals. I offer an entirely virtual prize to whoever names them! Aardvark and kangaroo?
Question Author
Sorry. Didn’t notice the 5 letter constraint. Will get back to you.

Llama and Okapi?
