George Washington - first of 43 Presidents

I thought the last battle on English soil was Sedgemoor.

The Battle of Preston in Lancashire was fought on the 14th November 1715 during the First Jacobite Rebellion, some30 years after sedgfield, 6th July 1685.

However, there is a bit of a quandry here, as a further minor battle took place during the Second jacobitr rebellion on 18th december 1745 at Clifton Moor, near PENRITH in Cumbria (or Cumberland as it was then called)

I would suggest though that the awnser is Preston.

Hope this helps

Rupert.

and yes, I know I spelt answer incorrectly!! lol
So Sorry, I should have put Sedgemoor, not Sedgefield!
